We are pleased to announce that recreational swimming at JBLM beaches reopened on August 17. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we implemented additional safety measures, which include:

• Swim lanes
• Hooks and ring buoys
• Depth markers
• Additional rescue equipment on shore
• Increased law enforcement patrols

Please note that all swimming at American Lake is at your own risk, as lifeguards are not on duty. We strongly encourage you to swim with a buddy, wear a life jacket, and consider the water temperature, which remains consistently cold throughout the year. Hypothermia is a risk, even in summer.
